The Last Ten Nights: A Time for Ultimate Devotion

The most precious days of Ramadan are here—the last ten nights. These nights hold immense blessings and opportunities for forgiveness, and among them is Laylatul Qadr, the Night of Decree, which is better than a thousand months.

The Prophet (ﷺ) used to increase his worship and devotion during these nights like never before.

“The Prophet (ﷺ) used to strive hard (in worship) in the last ten nights of Ramadan as he never did at any other time.”
(Sunan Ibn Majah 1767)

How Can We Maximize These Nights?

  1. Increase in Prayer and Worship
    • Perform extra voluntary prayers (Qiyam, Tahajjud).
    • Make long, heartfelt sujood, pouring out your du’as to Allah.
  2. Seek Laylatul Qadr
    • This one night is worth more than 83 years of worship.
    • The best du’a to make:

اللهم إنك عفو تحب العفو فاعف عني
“O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love to forgive, so forgive me.” (Tirmidhi 3513)

  3. Engage in Dhikr and Istighfar
    • Keep your tongue moist with remembrance: SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Allah.
    • Seek Allah’s forgiveness constantly: Astaghfirullah wa atubu ilayh.
  4. Give Charity
    • Even a small act of sadaqah each night could mean catching Laylatul Qadr, earning multiplied rewards.
  5. Stay Awake in Worship
    • The Prophet (ﷺ) would wake up his family and dedicate himself fully to ibadah during these nights.
    • Try to sacrifice distractions and dedicate yourself to Allah’s remembrance and Qur’an recitation.

Make These Nights Count

The last ten nights are a golden opportunity to seek Allah’s mercy and secure a lifetime of rewards. Let’s push ourselves harder and make the most of them before they pass.

May Allah accept our worship, forgive our sins, and grant us the immense rewards of Laylatul Qadr. Ameen.
